Calendar of Events

The apostle Paul wrote to the evangelist Timothy, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Awana (an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, from 2 Timothy 2:15), is an international evangelical nonprofit organization founded in 1950, with the goal that the students who attend would come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ as Lord.

The program meets at 6:30-8:30PM each Wednesday evening during the season for the K-2 Sparks group and 3-6th Grade T&T group, unless notified otherwise (holidays, etc). You can also check the calendar of events link for special events, etc. This year’s sign-up will be Wednesday, Sept 15th, between 6-7PM but you may also turn in your forms 9/12 in the basket in the foyer. Pre-payment can be included with the pre-registration forms. Session will begin the following Wednesday, Sept 22nd.

On Sunday mornings, during the Sunday School hour, your children can also be involved in Awanas with the Puggles group, which teaches toddlers simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more or with the Cubbies, an Awana club for preschoolers. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

For decades Sparks has helped kids in kindergarten through second grade explore and understand the truths found in the Bible. As clubbers become more aware of their need to trust Jesus as their Savior, they have many chances to hear the gospel, invite friends to join the adventure and let their faith soar! This year’s Sparks Director Rachel Basalay is looking forward to getting to know her Sparkies.

The name Truth & Training, our 3-6th Grade class, reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives.

Awana Co-Commanders Kris Dare and Ruth Weyers extend an invitation to those with a desire to work with the youth to stop by and see them after church to let them know of your interest in this rewarding ministry to our youth.
