This is a good question because it gives me a chance to elaborate on something that I mentioned in the question, “Does God Exists?”  Under this heading, I said that there are many things that point to the fact of the existence of God, but I didn’t take the time to cover them.  It is important that we understand that the Bible says that everyone already knows God exists.  Whether you are an American or some tribal chief in some far away land, God has given every human being a knowledge of Himself.  Romans 1:18-20 says,

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities---his eternal power and divine nature---have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Now, did you notice what God’s word said?  It says that God has made Himself known to us.  God has implanted within the conscience of every human a knowledge of his Creator.  The fact that we have a conscience, this voice in our head that tells us, “That is wrong” or “That is good” gives evidence to the fact that there is a God, a moral law giver if you will, who has given us a sense of right and wrong and good and evil.  Now the other thing this verse says is that God has shown us himself in creation.  It says that God’s “eternal power and divine nature---have been clearly seen.”  You wake up everyday and see the evidence of the existence of God.  But what about evolution?  We live in a world of cause and effect.  We see it everyday.  You never think that a Taco Bell just magically appeared out of nothing do you.  No, someone designed it and then someone built it.  God is the great cause.  This majestic world is the effect of his great wisdom, power, and glory.  Just remember that nothing, no matter how much time you give it, a thousand, a billion, a marbozillion( i just made that up) years, will always produce nothing.

One last thing, notice that this verse says every human has the truth about God, but what do they do with it?  They suppress it.  They deny it.  They think of all sorts of things to explain away this truth that God has implanted in them.  This is a great tragedy.  We have “exchanged the truth of God for a lie” (Romans 1:25).

So we can know that God exists because our conscience and creation confirms it to us.  Make sure that you heed the words at the end of the passage.  It says that because of these things, every person will have “no excuse” when they stand before God.  No one will be able to plead ignorance on the day of Judgement.  Do not suppress, but accept the truth of God revealed in his Word.

May God give eyes to see,

Mark
